ISS astronauts to test new eye protection for future Mars missions – ExtremeTech

Three new technologies will be tested on the ISS over the next year to make sure future Mars pioneers will be able to see where they’re going.


Weightlessness changes the shape of eyeballs, impairing vision. Astronauts need to be able to see clearly when they arrive at a planet, moon, or asteroid. NASA is working on ideas to preserve vision that will be tested out by the astronaut and cosmonaut who were just launched to the space station for a stay of nearly one year.
